Friday Funnies - Things my 4 year old says

Hi Everyone!!!

I know it's been pretty quiet here for the last few months. Tax season was SO CRAZY this year! I can't even begin to tell you the amount of people that came in and wanted 3 or 4 years done in one day! Cause I guess they are in a hurry after waiting that long?!

Anyways I thought I'd switch it up a little for today's Friday Funnies!

Jakah says seriously the funniest things! He has he laughing all day long. So I'm going to share some of his 4 year old wisdom!

"Mom, I don't want you to be married to Dad because I love you more than I love Jensen"
(that makes perfect sense!)

After seeing a dark gray truck "Mom, That truck looks just like Dad's!" Jakah, Dad's truck is silver. "Well they have the same wind shield wipers"...........

We told Jakah he could get a goldfish if he went a whole month with no accidents (Yes we are still potty training!!!) So we took him to the pet store to look at the fish. On our way home, in a very sad little voice we here "I really miss my pet goldfish"

While sitting in the living room watching a movie, "Mom! I don't want Jensen on my bed because I don't have my socks on!"

His favorite says is Dogomit! (I think I spelled that right!?)

I'm sure there are 1 millon more things he says that crack me up! But that's all for this Friday :)

I'll let you with a few Friday Funny pictures :)
you've been warned

First Mall Date #iPPP

Last weekend we met up with my friend Suzanne and her adorable daughter Zoe. They live about an hour and a half away, and were unable to make it to Jakah's birthday party due to being sick. So we decided to have a playdate half way between both of us. Luckily there is a mall with a Red Robin and a kid's museum.

Oh My Goodness the cuteness was on overload.

First we had lunch, where they insisted on sitting next to each other where they talked about anything and everything.

After lunch we headed down to the kids museum. They graciously let Jensen tag along with them.

Of course they had a blast at the museum! Played wonderful together, let us moms actually chat for a bit!

Afterwards, Jakah wanted to take his date for ice cream, so off we went.

Seriously, how cute are they! (everyone say Awe!)

How is it possible I am chaperoning a mall date already!?

I hope when they are teenagers, they still let Jensen tag along with them!

First Time Soccer Mom #iPPP

My 4 year old has officially started soccer. My husband has been taking him to practice since it's at night while I'm at work. It's probably better this way since Jakah is clingy with me, and not with him, I'm also super uber competitive, my husband isn't at all.

Poor Jensen just wants to get out there and play too, so my husband has to wrestle him during practice. So he misses a lot of what the coach says. Like the team name....Which we found out later in an e-mail from the coach.

Jakah is officially on the Orange Giraffe's team. My husband said it was the funniest thing listening to them pick out a name. Jakah told the coach his favorite animal is a rat. (WHAT?! EW) Two other kids said giraffe, one kid said tornado's and a little girl stated whales, and then proceeded to repeat for the whole hour that she just really loves whales. This coach has the patience of a saint! I don't think I could coach eight 3 and 4 year olds.

Anyways they had their first game Saturday. Of course they don't keep score, but it is hilarious to watch. Jakah plays pretty well. My husband was surprised. Since he doesn't go to the sports class with us, he's only seen him play at the two practices. At sports class Jakah is usually more interested in mopping the floor with his back, running lines, or clinging to my leg.

Other than being mad that he is on the orange team because his favorite color is green, he loved it and had so much fun!

Learning Patience Never Ends #iPPP

Two weeks ago, Jakah dropped my Nintendo 3DS into the toilet while he was using it. This was the second time it has been dropped into water. The first time he thought he could use it in the bath tub like dad does. (I'd also like to note that both these incidents where on "dad's watch"). Needless to say, it's officially dead this time.

We decided that he needs to earn money to buy a new one. For many reasons, but most importantly because he needs to learn that we aren't just going to buy him new stuff if he breaks it.

So he has been doing chores. Not hard ones, emptying and re-filling the dishwasher, mopping the floors, cleaning the windows, helping with laundry and cleaning the bathrooms. We only do about 2 chores a day, because he is only 4. His attention span doesn't last very long.

And my patience can't handle much more.

Teaching him chores has been more work for me than for him. Part of my type A personality has had to let go of control. I have to remind myself that he is only 4, and is learning how to do these things. It's frustrating to let it go. To know that the floor isn't as clean as it should be, that the dishes will still get clean even if they aren't in the exact place they should be.

But I know someday he will get it, and will hopefully make his wife happy by helping out!

He wanted to count his money to see if he was close to buying another 3DS.

Of course he is a LONG way off from the $200, as of now he has earned $5.50. Mostly because I pay him in pennies and nickels. I can still get away with paying him cheaply and he thinks coins are worth more than dollars. (seriously he traded me 4 nickels for a dollar bill because it's more money). He usually earns anywhere from 20 - 50 cents a day depending on how many chores we do or how hard they are. I paid him more to clean the windows.

So we have decided he needs to earn 200 coins. So far he is up to 75 coins. We made him a little chart so he can see how far away he is.

He seems pretty enthusiastic about doing chores and earning money, is learning that it takes work to get the things you want, and I am learning a huge lesson in patience and letting go of the small things.

Champagne Life Style on a Beer Budget #iPPP

So as a general rule (for myself) I almost never buy anything unless it's on clearance. Yes there are a few exceptions like bridesmaid dresses, ok I guess that is my only exception?! But seriously never buy anything unless it is on clearance or at least on sale (with a coupon of course!). If you wait long enough, or sometimes not very long, it will be on clearance.

We bought all of our appliances in our kitchen on clearance! For Valentine's day tomorrow we are buying each other a 60" LED TV (name brand) that I found a stupid good deal on, that we can't pass up ($700!)

We live on 1 income, and I don't think we are lacking on anything because we are patient and buy stuff on clearance. It's really a champagne life style on a beer budget.

That being said, we are teaching our boys about money. Savings it and waiting to buy stuff until we either really want it, or you guessed it, on clearance.

So, Tuesday I took Jakah shopping to spend his birthday money. Dude, the kid scored more birthday money than I do! I  put the cash he received into his bank account, but he also made out with a visa gift card! Score!

We went to Kohl's because their toys are ALWAYS on sale. I was hoping to get him some clothes to, and I had $20 Kohl's cash to use. (gotta love free money right?!)

Boy did this kid get his mom's shopping skills! All clearance was an extra 25% off the clearance price, including toys!

Jakah ended up buying all this

A giant imaginext batcave (priced at $80, we paid $10), a spiderman house (priced at $70, we paid $20), a Luigi shirt (his favorite character, priced at $16, paid $3.80), two Thomas trains (priced at $12.99 each, paid $9 for both), and he bought Jensen two t-shirts ( seriously paid $3 total for those) and a sweatshirt (hello $2!)

After everything was rung up I also had a 15% off coupon (you should install the retail me not app on your phone, always has coupons to use in stores!) Used our $20 Kohl's cash and the total came to $30!

Seriously paid $30 for all of this! Our receipt said we saved $197!

If you follow me on facebook (or instagram!) you would know that last summer my  ultimate saving was spending $150 and saving almost $900....

Today He's 4, Almost A Handful

Today my sweet baby boy turns 4.
It's hard to believe that it has been 4 years since that baby boy entered my life and made me a mom.

I never imagined that tiny baby boy (only 6lbs, 11 oz) would turn into a headstrong, independent, incredibly smart, funny and adorable 4 year old.

Jakah showed up 2 weeks early. Always having to be on his own schedule, not anyone else's. Since then he has been one of the most independent kids I have ever met or seen. Never really wanting to be held. Always trying to do things himself. While some days it's frustrating, I remind myself that someday it will be awesome.

A hair nightmare #iPPP

I never had amazingly thick hair in my life. It's always been very thin and fine. Seriously, most babies are born with more hair than I have ever had.

While it was thin and fine, I always had enough that you couldn't tell.

Here is a picture of it in May 2005. Its on the very long side because I was growing it out for my wedding. But still, looks healthy and normal right?!

Until last June, when I went to put my hair into a ponytail and realized the small ponytail holder I was using wrapped around my ponytail 8 times! and probably could have gone more. (it used to only take 3 times around)
Oh how I cried and cried. How could I have not noticed!?
During pregnancy my hair NEVER got any thicker or grew any more than normal. On the plus side, my hair didn't fall out after pregnancy either. At least not the first time. I think after having Jensen is when my hair started falling out. I just never noticed.
So after talking to some people (my cousin's who are hair dressers, and my doctor) I started taking Biotin. Well a vitamin called Hair, Skin and Nails has biotin in it. I also found some shampoo with biotin in it, and have since used that.
I decided that with all the new growth (Yay!) the few strands of hair left over was looking horrible. So today I went to get a haircut. I asked for it to be chin length, but after she started cutting said it would look better if I just cut it down to all the new growth.
(I am horrible at taking selfies! Seriously bad!)
This is what happened. It's so short! I am not a fan of it at all. But it does look so much thicker and fuller. On that note, this is all the growth since I started taking the biotin in August. It's a lot of hair! (well for me anyways! Especially compared to what I had!) Hopefully it will grow out faster and look like it once did
