Monday Listicles - 10 Sounds That Drive Me Bonkers

Happy Monday Everyone! After 4 (long) days at the Ocean the boys are home! Hooray! Of course Jakah is a whiny tantrum mess from not napping for 4 days, but its expected. He told me he missed me (awe) and has given me lots of hugs and kisses!

I am frantically trying to get all the laundry done so that Casey can re-pack his bag since he has to head down to Portland tomorrow night for work. Ugh! He asked me if I wanted to go, since I have never been able to go on a work trip with him (due to my work) but of course we would have to take the kids and its too much for 2 days and 1 night. Boo!

Anyways this week Stasha has asked us to list the 10 sounds that drive us bonkers! Sounds like fun!

10  Sounds That Drive Me Bonkers

1. Whining / Tantrums (from any child, but mostly my own)

2.Wood scraping together (I usually hear it when opening and shutting dresser drawers, or play with Jakah and the wooden train tracks, makes me cringe thinking about it)

3. The recorded messages they play over and over while you are on hold (of course I'll call 911 if my kid has an emergency, but I need to schedule a Dr appointment thank you)

4. Crying, the kind that doesn't stop not matter what you do (Jakah had colic, worst sound ever!)

5. The dogs nails scraping against the wood floors, or licking, or panting near me...basically the dog

6. Brakes grinding and screeching

7. Those stupid mini-bikes called pocket rockets (or quads), driving up and down the street at 10 or later at night. Kids are sleeping people! By the way, why are huge adult men riding pocket rockets? (P.S. if you Google pocket rockets you get vibrators heh. Hope my husband doesn't get all excited when he sees that)

8. Teeth grinding, especially at night, around 2 am causing me to not go back to sleep.... (ahem Casey!)

9. That disgusting sound / process of hocking a loogie (makes me gag just thinking about it)

10. Thomas the Train... I hate him... his voice annoys the crap outta me! I won't even let Jakah watch that show

And a bonus one

11. The sound of my son eating sand. Grinding it all up with his teeth (makes me shudder just thinking about it)

So there you have it! I need to go do ANYTHING to get the thought of those sounds out of my head before it annoys me even more!

Four long days away

In Jakah's 2 1/2 years of life, I have only spent two nights away from him. Once was recently when I was in the hospital having his brother. I am rarely gone from him longer than 10 hours. There has never been a day that I have not seen Jakah's smiling face.

Tomorrow my husband will take Jakah camping in Ocean Shores with his entire family. This is something we do every year. This is the first time in 10 years I won't be joining them.
Its no secret that I am not a huge fan of camping

We decided that camping with a newborn sounds horrific. Its windy, and cold, and again they are camping. So I am staying home with Jensen.

That's my type of camping :)

It is the longest I will ever be away from Jakah.

I have so many emotions about this.

I am excited, I will get a little break. Casey will be in charge for 4 days. Sure he'll have help from his family, but its the longest he will spend with Jakah without me. He will do fine. I am hopeful that he will see what its like to be around him constantly like I am. Perhaps a little glimpse into my daily life. (of course he will have tons of help and things to entertain each other, and no baby)

I am sad. 4 days might not seem like much, but its a pretty long time. Seriously there has never been a day where I have not seen Jakah. And while most days, I am exhausted by the end of the night, and excited for him to go to bed. I am sad that I won't get to see him the next day.

Excited again, because it will just be me and the baby. Go shopping at the mall, sure its easy with a newborn. Friends want to meet for breakfast or lunch, why not? I'll only have one kid who sleeps all the time instead of trying to manage two in a restaurant.

It's 4 days where I can do / go anything I want. (well mostly, I can't take a baby to the casino or the bar!) Watch whatever I want on TV? Sure there's no kid here requesting "Einsteins or Mickey's House" Jensen wants me to just sit and hold him all day, OK I won't have to chase a toddler around, or clean the house since we aren't as messy.

Then I am sad again, I will miss him. While he is a toddler and frustrates me, He is also funny and makes me laugh. What will I do without having to chase a toddler around?

Its the first time he actually realizes he is going somewhere. I don't know if he comprehends it, but he talks about going to the ocean. And riding in papa's truck.

I hope they have fun. But not too much fun without me!

I hope its a good break for Jakah and myself to be apart. I hope he misses me, but I wonder if he will even notice I am not around. Will he be sad? Will he care that I am not there? Am I being selfish secretly hoping he will miss me?

So its going to be 4 long days..... It might not seem like much, but to me its a lifetime.

7 years

7 years ago I married my partner in crime. My soul mate. My one and only.

I can't believe it has been 7 years already. I swear we just met, are just getting engaged, are just celebrating our 1st anniversary.

Its amazing how fast the 7 years have flown by. And all the things we have done in those 7 years. For our honeymoon we went to Fiji. For our 1st anniversary we went to Ireland (while Casey was on strike at work. We had already paid for the trip)

Waiting to kiss the Blarney Stone

Drinking a Guiness at the Guiness Factory
To celebrate our 7th anniversary we did what any normal couple would do.

Stripped off our clothes in a room with two other women, where they proceeded to rub us down for an hour.

OK actually we treated ourselves to a couples massage. It just sounds much more exciting when I word it different. :)

I can't wait to see what the next 7 years bring us! Happy Anniversary!

Nothing more needs to be said

Monday Listicles - Birthdays

Its a rainy, gray Monday here, but its Listicle time!

This week Robbie has asked us to write about birthdays in honor of her daughter turning 9.

So here are 10 random birthday facts

1. I have the only May birthday in both sides of our families. Which is weird cause there are lots of May birthdays.
This is a picture of us from my 21st birthday
2. July is the only month that I don't have to buy a birthday gift in.

3. I turned 30 this year, and I was pregnant so didn't do anything that I wanted to

4. For my 24th birthday I went to Vegas with my parents. They were celebrating their 25th anniversary, 3 days after my birthday. They got married in Vegas

5. Casey had his "mid-life" crisis on his 25th birthday. Other than that year, he could care less if he gets or does anything for his birthday. His birthday is just a few weeks after Christmas, by then I am out of ideas on what to get him.

6. For my 27th birthday, I bought myself a dirt bike without having ever ridden one. A month later I found out I was pregnant. I didn't get to ride my dirt bike.

7. For my 25th birthday, I went sky diving. Casey refused to jump out of a plane with me. He is scared of heights and flying

8. Jakah was due Feb 17th, but decided to arrive on Feb 3rd. Causing me to win my own baby pool. (I had picked Feb 2nd) He also has had to share both his birthdays with Super Bowl Sunday. But it means that people leave faster to go watch the game.

9. I have always made my son's and nephew's birthday cakes. I always think its going to be easy, but at the last minute have to recruit Casey to help me

10. Casey always complains because my birthday is a week after Mother's day and he has to buy me 2 gifts in a row. I tell him to shut it

There you have it. 10 random facts about birthdays around here!

On another note, does anyone know what to do when a 6 week old loses his voice? Poor Jensen can't cry or make any noise. I am waiting until the Dr is open to all, but thought I would ask if this has happened to anyone else?

First Project Truck

This is my 200th post on my blog!

We have been tossing around the idea of getting Jakah a power wheels for a while now. He drives his cousin's around and loves it. But they are EXPENSIVE! And we wanted to wait until he was old enough to appreciate it. (Ha ha ha)

But we found one on craigslist for $50. It came with 2 new tires that needed to be installed. It had a bad battery, and the front end was bent so it couldn't steer. But other than that it was really nice and taken care of.

So we went ahead and bought it. Jakah officially has his first project truck! I don't know who is more excited about this jeep, Jakah or his dad!

Jakah has been super excited and couldn't wait to drive it. Unfortunately the battery lasted long enough for him to go down the street, and then we had to push him back home.

Casey and Jakah wasted no time taking the front end apart and getting to work. Casey hopped onto Amazon and ordered 2 more new tires and a new battery.  We had to wait a whole week for them to show up!

But that gave the boys time to make a new front end.

Overall we spent $125 total. Not too bad for a power wheels. Casey made all the front end parts himself. They were just pieces of steel that he drilled and filed down. Its awesome having a handy husband!

Of course its hard for a 2 year old to wait (and possible just as hard for the 30 year old) So after installing all the new front end pieces and 2 of the tires Casey let him try it out.

This looks like a future senior picture!

Wheeling it off the curb

Getting pushed home

Watching the tires spin

The battery has finally arrived, all the new tires have been put on and we have a very happy 2 year old! And a very proud husband! (he is also a little jealous!)

We also found out that two of his friends in the neighborhood have jeep power wheels, So I think they will be starting a mini jeep club! I can't wait to get them all together and get pictures of it!
