Un-Expected Bathroom Remodel

Well I shouldn't say this bathroom remodel was un-expected, because we always knew we were going to re-do the bathroom. We bought our house 8 years ago, and have re-done just about every inch, so this was coming. It just came sooner than we were planning.

A few months (maybe a year?) ago we noticed mold / mildew on the ceiling of the bathroom. Even though we scrubbed it off with bleach and cleaners, it wouldn't go away. We figured there was a leak in the attic causing it. My husband decided (after I told him it was horrible for you to breathe mold in!) decided to cut out the drywall and fix it. Only we found out it there was no leak. The 2x4's in the attic were fine and un-damaged.

We couldn't figure out what was going on. We decided to go along with replacing the drywall, put in new faucets, and bought a better overhead fan. We thought maybe the builder grade (ie cheapest!) may have been the cause of the mold problem.

Only we had NO IDEA! Casey installed the new fan, and found out the original one, that was put in by the builder (our house is only 12 years old) was installed BACKWARDS!!! So when you flipped the switch to turn it on, the little flappy thing was closing shut causing no steamy air to escape....

Ugh! Thank God I have a handy husband who has figured out how to do all this work himself. Oh and somehow with a 2 year olds help! Because I have been working on Saturdays and unable to keep Jakah occupied and out of the way.

Needless to say he has fixed the bathroom, sanded the drywall, re-textured and you can't even tell the difference!

Then as a suprise, I came home on Saturday from work to find that he had re-painted the bathroom and the baby's room! WOW!!! (he won't let me help in the painting at all)

He had called my brother-in-law over to help him, and grandma to take Jakah for the day. I had already picked out and bought the paint. My brother-in-law has now painted both my babies rooms! And his wife painted my bathroom last time (it was a suprise for us while she was house sitting)

I was really iffy on the color when I bought it, but now that its up I LOVE it! The bathroom seems so much bigger with so much room now!

And I get to re-deocrate the bathroom since all our old stuff doesn't match! Yay!!!

When I mentioned this to Casey, he said "You can buy a new shower curtain if you can find one for $10".....

Challenge ACCEPTED!

In 2 days I found one that matches and was only $8! Ha ha Sucker!

2nd Birthday Pictures

This week for Monday Listicles, Rachel has chosen the topic Pros / Cons of a high school reunion. But I am failing that one. Mostly because I just went to my 10 year 2 years ago. And because I couldn't think of 10 things... or even 5 things..

So instead I'm going to show off that I'm that crazy mom who takes her kid to the portrait studio a million times. Jakah has been there more than anywhere else I think. While we just go to JC Penney (because they are cheap), I feel like if I don't go get these pictures done, they will never get done and I will miss out.

Jakah just had his 2nd year pictures done. We had a guy photographer and it took quite a while for Jakah to warm up to him. Actually they had to call the other girl in to make he smile. Such a ladies man! But they turned out pretty cute and I thought I would show them off!

You might recognize this pose. We had it done at newborn, 6 months, 1 year, and now again at 2 years. I don't think Casey will be able to do it again and I am thankful we had them done because they are some of my favorite!

Funny Friday

Ahhhhh so has anyone else that uses Blogger had issues with replying to comments?? I can't reply to anyones, and I have used 3 different computers, all with different browsers. I am totally not ignoring anyone! I just can't reply!

I totally find hilarious stuff on pintrest and love sharing it with everyone, because really who doesn't need a laugh after a hard week!?

WTF Wednesday - 2.22.12

I work at a tax office for 3 1/2 months a year. I've been working there, off and on, since I was 15 (so 15 years!) Its a fun job, not long hours,they let me bring Jakah in to hang out for a while before Casey picks him up.

I like it.

Normally we can't wear jeans. We can only wear dress pants or khaki's (or dresses / skirts but I never wear those!)

Since I went and got myself knocked up, I asked if I could have a pass this year. Since really its only 3 1/2 months, and I have nothing but maternity jeans. I really don't want to drop some cash on different maternity pants cause they are expensive and I am donating all these clothes when I am done with them after this.

I was told that it was un-professional to wear jeans. We meet with clients and want to look our best.

Ok ok I get it.

But they then told me I could wear Pajama Jeans


Because apparently Pajama Jeans are totally professional.... and its OK because they are not real Denim....

WTF?!

Too bad Pajama Jeans cost $40 a pair! I'd totally wear them to work!

Monday Listicles - I'd Rather ....

This week Stasha has chosen Wendy at Twisted Domestic Goddess to pick our topic out. She has chosen
"10 Things I would rather do than clean the house"


You would think this would be a no brainer, but I don't mind cleaning the house. And since We are in the middle of fixing / redoing our bathroom and painting bedrooms we have giant messes everywhere. They are driving me crazy! I want to just go finish painting and be done but I can't even go do that.

So instead here are 10 things I'd rather be doing

1. Read the "Hunger Games" - I seriously started this book and have been sucked in. I don't want to put it down! Its so good! Can't wait for the movie now :)


2. Read other's blogs - Because I enjoy it

3. Go to the vacation! - Preferably to a beach! But not the beach here, its cold. But a beach in Hawaii would be nice!


4. Play with Jakah - Because its always fun :)

5. Wash the car - But I love washing the car, seriously! Gets done about once a week in the summer! Its so dirty right now


6. Having a margarita (or even a beer at this point!) - I'm past half way in the pregnancy, I just want a drink at this point!


7. Get a Massage


8. Bake - But not have to clean up the mess!

9. Figure out how to add the social network icons to my blog - It can't be that hard, but I just don't seem to have the time to figure it out! Oh and make a cute little button thing of my own...

10. Go out with friends! Sure I can go out now, but we don't. Its hard with my work schedule and wanting to hang out with Casey and Jakah! Plus I don't have many girl friends, but I wish I did. Cause I could use some girl time!

Funny Friday

Since I have started working in the evening, I have find myself with a little bit of free computer time.

You know the time when the work is all done and you have about 20 minutes left of work.

And since I have no kid sitting on my lap begging to watch yet another Muppet video on You Tube, I am actually able to look at what I want to look at.

WTF Wednesday - 2.15.12

Ah WTF Wednesday how I have missed you. I have so many things I want to add, but I have to save some of them for another Wednesday!

First off I want to rant a little about everyone who keeps telling me how tired I look. Its getting really old hearing it!

Of course I am tired! I am 6 months pregnant, chasing a 2 year old, working 2 part time jobs (equaling 6 days a week with 1 day off from both!) and keeping up on normal house work.

Oh and this baby likes to party all night long! And its hard to get comfortable!

So of course I'm F*%ing tired people!

But please stop telling me how tired I look. Its just getting annoying and makes me feel like I look like shit.

My other WTF this week has to do with Bacon.

Maybe I am a traditionalist, and only like bacon with breakfast. But I feel like the bacon craze has gone a bit overboard.....
