Friday Funnies #16

Happy Friday!!! And Hi to all the new followers! I am so pleased you are all here :) How was your week? Any plans for the weekend? Our elf is showing up tomorrow, and I get to go shopping kid free on Sunday! I need an outfit for a wedding next weekend and I was told to look equally as hot as my husband in a tux! Yes you read that right, I am going shopping kid free for something for myself!!! Hopefully I can deliver! I think we are taking Jakah for a haircut... which is never really fun cause he hates it and won't sit still. Other than that we are free, maybe put up Christmas lights Clark Griswald style?

Eggnog Pound Cake

Is everyone else busy baking like me? OK this week has been a little slow, but last week I baked at least two things every day! Oh the dishes!!! Thank god I have a dishwasher!

One of the recipes I tried last week was Eggnog Pound Cake. I didn't find any I  liked on Pinterest, so I googled it and came up with a wonderful recipe! Actually the original recipe calls for vanilla eggnog which I had no idea they even made. Here is the original recipe from Smells Like Home.

Eggnog Pound Cake

Ingredients:
3 cups of all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
2 cups granulated sugar
1 vanilla bean pod, split and seeds removed (I didn't add this because I didn't have it)
3 large eggs, room temperature
1 cup of eggnog (original recipe calls for vanilla eggnog)
1/4 teaspoon eggnog flavoring or 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 teaspoon rum extract (I only had vanilla)

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
Grease bundt cake or two loaf pans (I used two loaf pans)
In a bowl mix together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside
Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla for about 5 minutes
Beat in 1 egg at a time, scraping bowl after each addition (I just use my scraper paddle attachment)
With mixer on low, alternate adding flour mixture and eggnog
Spoon batter into pans and level with scraper
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean
Let cool for 10 minutes

Influenster Beauty Blogger Vox Box 2012

My goodness! Have you guys heard of Influenster? I forget who sent me to that site but I signed up. Played around and filled out some survey type things.



And wouldn't you know it they sent me a beauty blogger box to review. Now I'm not a beauty blogger. Far from it. I barely wear make up, or ever do my hair. I have no idea how I was chosen. I think they took one look at my picture, saw that I lived with only boys and felt bad for me.

My favorite thing is the Bath & Body Works candle! It's a scent I would have never picked out myself but now I love it! It's called Mahogany Teak wood  Even my husband doesn't complain when I light it. He normally does because I pick out "girly" candles.

Kiss Ever PRO Lashes - Which I must suck at beauty cause they fell off. Maybe I wasn't doing them right? I did read the instructions though

NYC New York Color Individual Eyes - Was great eye shadow  Just wish I would have gotten on for green or blue eyes not brown. Maybe I will have to go buy one for green eyes and see if I get better effects.

Goody Simple Styles Spin Pins - Great concept, probably works wonderful on thicker hair. I have such fine, thin baby type hair it didn't hold. Although nothing holds in my hair. I gave this to one of my sisters to try and she loved it. Held her hair all day while at work.

Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Hair Defining Creme - Again is probably awesome, but I don't have curly hair. I tried it on my son (shhh don't tell him!) and it worked great. Didn't leave his hair "crunchy". I ended up giving this to my sister with very curly hair.

Vitabath Fragrance Mist - I received one that is a lavender chamomile scent. Not my favorite but still smelled nice. I sprayed it on my baby's bed to help him sleep and it seemed to work pretty good. I did see that had one that smelled like cupcakes. I'd like to try that one for sure!

Monday Listicles - 10 Photos from my phone

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! My husband had the whole week off so we have been out doing fun things! First he got fixed (not fun for him lol) I gave him a few free days off to recover without kids for that. Then we were off to see Santa, and surprised 5 kids (well 4 and the baby) with a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge! We had so much fun and the kids loved it! Then there was Thanksgiving, and lots of cooking and baking done by me, so look for new recipes coming this week! We finished off the week with a trip out to the woods to find a Christmas tree and do some sledding! It was so fun!

Whew anyone else tired from my stay-cation?! Or is it just me?

There was also some Black Friday shopping. Did you know you could get almost everything advertised online with free shipping! Except the door buster deals, which I didn't need or want anyways. Score!

Even though I took a break from blogging, I didn't take a break from Instagram. I am addicted to it. You should follow me! I'll follow you back!

and for Jakah's middle name, we chose Eldon (Casey's grandpa) but the other choice was Silas (Casey's other grandpa)

Vacation Week

Happy Monday Everyone! Hopefully everyone had a good weekend. My husband has survived his procedure and seems to be doing OK.

He has the rest of the week off, and we have lots of stuff planned. Today we are going to see Santa! I know its early, but pictures are cheaper, there's no line cause kids are in school, and my husband is around to help wrangle at the mall!

Tomorrow we are off to the Great Wolf Lodge! I cashed in on a Living Social deal and got 8 people in for $250! So my sister, her fiance and 3 of their kids are going with us. Yay for cousin time. Its pretty exciting cause none of the kids know, its a huge surprise :)

And then there is Thanksgiving! And some Christmas Shopping. No, I am not going out to the stores for Black Friday. Instead I will be shopping online. Did you  know that most the deals that are at the store are also valid online! And no lines or crazy people!

Hopefully I can come update or at least show some pictures, but if you don't hear from me its because we are taking advantage of vacation week.

I have some exciting things coming up. My first ever giveaway will start next week! Just in time for Christmas!

Friday Funnies #15 Vasectomy

Today my husband goes in to get a vasectomy. From the beginning we decided we only wanted two kids. And while we are both happy he is getting it done, a part of me is / was a little sad. Until my 2 year old decided to act up and remind me all over again for the 14,000 time why I can only handle two kids.

I was never really a baby person, but after having a couple I get it. Although I hate being pregnant, getting to hold a new baby for the first time is amazing! Guess I'll have to hold friends and families babies.

Hope everyone has a better weekend than my husband! Although I did buy him a vasectomy present (he did buy me "push presents" after all), Call of Duty Black Ops 2.

And I am taking the boys away for most of the weekend. That way he can lay around and play his video game in peace... with a nice cold bag of peas
Ha ha ha!

Besides, we all know men complain way more about any tiny little thing than women, and I don't wanna hear him bitch and moan!

Oh did I mention he has all of next week off too! Oy vey!
