My Jamberry Experience

Hi Everyone!

Whew! I'm sure you all have been asking yourself, "Where is Audrey?"

I've been around. It's a busy time of year. And the boys keep me running around. And I think of stuff to blog but then forget about it. Ugh! Hopefully I will do better in 2014!!!

It's the thought that counts right?

Amanda from It's Blogworthy gave me the opportunity to try out her amazing Jamberry nail products.

I am so excited to share my thoughts on it.

First off I never paint my nails. I hate the chipping that happens almost immediately. Drives me crazy because all I do is pick and chip at it until I take it off.

Amanda sent me two adorable stickers to try out. I chose the colorful chevron one and added my own purple nail polish.

It was easy to apply, although next time I will heat it up a little more to stick better. The sides seemed to big so maybe I need to trim that part down. But doesn't it look cute!

I did two coats of purple nail polish, and a clear top coat.

I left it on for 12 days. 12 days people!

12 days of bathing kids, washing pots and pans, washing my hands 10,000 times a day, 12 days of my showers, and all the other daily activities.

The Jamberry sticker has barely any wear on it and still looks new! My nail polish looks horrible.

I love these things!!

I ordered some for my sister for Christmas. I had the hardest time picking them out. There are so many adorable designs! I really wanted to get some for myself but couldn't with Christmas right around the corner.

Amanda is a Jamberry consultant. She has an insiders group on Facebook and you can even try one out for free!

She is also donating some money towards Greta's fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

So if you wish to buy some (which I hope you do!) and give to a good cause check out the party and buy yourself a little something!

Friday Funnies # 37

Happy Friday!

It's been a busy week, and today I have to bake 3 pies! My wonderful husband volunteered me to bring all the pies to one Thanksgiving tomorrow. Isn't that so nice of him!

I'm actually debating buying frozen pies and seeing if anyone even notices that they aren't home made. I bet they wouldn't know!

Next week he is off work and I don't think we have a single day free. It's sad how fast stuff fills up on the calendar! Sunday we are off to the Great Wolf Lodge. His whole family is going so it should be fun!

What are your plans this weekend? Anything exciting?

Anyone need a laugh?! Emily and I have a community Pinterest board dedicated to Friday Funnies. If you would like to pin to it please let me know and I will send you an invitation!

This is why action figures exist.

This one is so me!

THIS would be me.

No thank you.

I can't be the only one this happens to!

all the time.

I know, right?

Well hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sometimes You Just Gotta Get Away

I love my kids as much as the next person. Actually I love my kids more than you guys do, cause well, they are mine.

But sometimes you just need a break.

This past weekend, my bestest friend and I went away for the whole weekend. We had only been talking about getting away together for the past two years. But we finally did it! A whole two nights and two days!

We drove up to a little town called Birch Bay, on the coast, very close to Canada. About 2 1/2 hours away.

Of course my husband had to work later than normal on Friday, so we didn't get into town until around 9 pm. But we made it!

Friday night we didn't do anything too exciting, drank a bottle of wine, talked and went to sleep. A full night of sleep without kids waking us up! It was glorious!

Saturday we laid around the condo, had coffee and actually watched what we wanted to on tv! Then we headed out and explored.

We ended up in a dutch town called Lynden. We found a little restaurant where we had a traditional dutch breakfast (or really for us, brunch). The Pannekoek, or dutch pancakes were delicious! Really thin pancakes with bacon cooked into it, and eggs on top. We also ordered an apple cinnamon pannekoek. Little did we know they were HUGE. We were so full!
We walked up and down the little main street doing some shopping. It was mostly antique stores. Places we NEVER go into with children. While we didn't buy anything, it was fun to look around.

We found a place to get a pedicure and indulged in that. Funny thing is, the lady that did my pedicure was WAY to chatting and it was more annoying than relaxing. I realized I'd rather go somewhere they don't speak English to me, at least they can talk and I don't know what they are saying.

After our pedicures, we decided to hit the casino. Going to the casino is one of my favorite things to do! We found one neither of us had been to before. Usually when you go to a casino and sign up for their players card, they will give you $5 to play. Yay for $5! But this casino not only gave us $5, they also gave each of us $25.95 for dinner, and another $5 to spend at another restaurant. So even though we lost the money we had decided to spend, we each got dinner for free, and used the second $5 for breakfast sandwiches for the next day!

After playing there, losing our money and eating our free dinner, we decided to head back to the condo so we could hit the hot tub!

After another bottle of wine, and learning that I had only brought 2 swim suit tops... we hit the hot tub. (don't worry, I figured out a way to wear 2 tops, and no one even knew! Thank god swim suit skirts are in style right!)

Our saying for the weekend came from Despicable Me ... "First you clink, and then you drink"

After staying up way to late on Saturday, and drinking two bottles of wine, we finally went to bed for another night of no kids! Again it was amazing! Too bad neither of us seem to sleep past 7, but oh well!

Sunday we walked around Birch Bay for a bit before deciding we should probably head home and end of kid free weekend.

Sure I missed my kids and husband, but I could have stayed away longer! The most amazing part was coming home to find my husband and cleaned, washed, folded and put away our laundry and even washed and put away his work uniforms! And he took both of them to Seattle to a car show! Almost by himself, his dad and brother in law went. So 5 guys, together! Eek! But they all survived and made it home in one piece.

I think even the boys missed me, which is part of why I wanted to go away. We are together all the time. My husband said my son cried for an hour Saturday night. And when I got home my son told me he was so worried about me. Awe!

Up next... perhaps a weekend away with my husband! Neither of us have been away from our kids at the same time!

There is a community Pinterest board dedicated to Friday Funnies. If you would like to be added let me know! The more the merrier or funnier!

This doesn't apply to me cause I am addicted to stupid Candy Crush, but I know there is someone out there who doesn't play.

Jurassic Park in my house... Hahaha!
This is fantastic!

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Don't Mess With The Bull

I really wanted to link up with Greta for #iPPP today. But I was having a hard time figuring out what to write since I haven't blogged in so long.

Good thing I waited for WTF Wednesday right!?

This morning on our way to toddler sports we got stuck behind a bull on the highway.

Seriously a bull!

I stayed far enough back and wouldn't DARE honk my horn at him. The cars passing the other way all slowed down. It was hilarious to see all the people taking pictures of him.

Everything was fine and dandy (as much as following a bull can be)

That is until he decided to stop, turn around and come running straight towards my car.

I may have shrieked like a little girl, but I still got the picture! Cause really what else do you do when you are being charged by a bull with no where to go.

Needless to say, I was going to pick up a coffee on my way to sports since I was dragging today, but I no longer needed it.

I'm Back!

Guess what we got last week! A new lap top!

I haven't been around ALL summer because my lovely son (that is part monkey) climbed onto the kitchen table, sat on our lap top and broke it. Not even really broke it, just made the screen go dark so that we couldn't see anything on it.

Granted our lap top was 8 years old and it was probably time for a new one, but we didn't have the money to buy a new one. So we had to wait a while until we could pick one out. Do you know how hard it is to research lap tops on Kindles?! It takes forever!

At least it was during the summer. We have been busy playing outside in the beautiful sunshine!

Hopefully I will get back into blogging soon. I miss it!

Although learning the new Windows 8 is taking a while. And I have to somehow transfer all my pictures and videos onto the new computer. It will take forever since we have to hook the old one up to the TV to have a monitor.

Thanks to everyone who has stuck around and kept checking to see if I had written anything new! There will be new stuff soon!

Mustache Men

Do you ever have one of those nights where everyone is being goofy?

I'm not quite sure how this night happened, but I think Jakah my 3 year old was talking about having a mustache. And how his dad can grow a mustache but he can't.

So my husband gave him a mustache. Good thing I have lots of make-up that I never wear, cause a brown eyeliner pencil came in handy!

A rare photo of me and the Mustache Men

Sad mustache man

And scary mustache man

And a baby with a mustache is funny and creepy all at once

Moments like these are hilarious, and make a frustrating days so much better. Good thing they are cute and goofy. I guess I'll keep them around for a while.

Garage Sale Tanked

Hey All!

How has everyone been?

I know I haven't been around much. Man these boys are keeping me on my toes! Today is the first day they are both napping AT THE SAME TIME!!!

I should be sitting outside drinking a nice cool margarita to celebrate! But it's so dang hot outside. Seriously, it doesn't usually get into the 90's until August here. Ugh!

This past weekend I had a garage sale. Since I am not having any more babies, I figured I could sell off all my baby stuff. People go crazy over baby stuff at garage sales.

Unless you're me. I was told MULTIPLE times that I had "too much baby stuff". Uh... what? No one wanted a stroller, boppy, clothing, NOTHING.

How is that even possible?

I even had the sale at my parents house. They live on a super busy street (I don't). A lot of Hispanic people live around that area. My mom has had sales there many times and had great luck.

But no, I seriously tanked at my garage sale.

So weird!

So I'll start listing my stuff on craigslist and see if anyone wants it. If not maybe I'll try again at the end of the summer. Maybe it was too hot for people to be out?

At least I had this little guy helping me for a while

Book Review (and giveaway) - The Iron Duke

A few months ago I was contacted by Galaxy Press and asked to review the book The Iron Duke by L. Ron Hubbard

The Iron Duke paperback

The only thing I knew about L. Ron Hubbard is that he was the founder of the Church of Scientology.  But he also wrote pulp fiction adventure stories. He was one of the more popular writers of the pulp fiction era. Writing short stories in almost any subject; westerns, gangsters, spies, deep sea adventures and of course science fiction.

The Iron Duke is set in the 1940's around the time of World War II.

A story about a man named Blacky Lee. He is wanted by just about every government in Europe. He discovered a few years back, that he is a spitting imagine of Prince Phillip from Aldoria. He learns Prince Phillips mannerisms, speech, and royal family tree and proceeds to impersonate the prince. Blacky devises a plan to impersonate the prince in order to escape the governments that want him dead. While trying to convince officials he is the prince of Aldoria, he is discovered a fake due to a small scar that the real prince has, which Blacky does not. Blacky is jailed, but instead of executed, the officials of Aldoria have other plans for him. They set him up as a body double so that the real prince is not murdered during an election. While in jail, the countess of Aldoria sends Blacky fine wine, meals books, and doctors. Blacky uses the countess in another scheme to escape. Unfortunately it doesn't work, and he is almost assassinated at a bridge dedication while posing as the prince. There Blacky declares a free election in the country. He also makes a wager with the countess, if he wins she must marry him.

Can Blacky convince a country that he is fit to be there leader? Will the countess take the wager and end up marrying Blacky the pretend prince?

It was a short read, but entertaining and well written. The audio version was entertaining, with great voices and great sound effects. I enjoyed listening to the production as if it were one of the old radio shows.

If you'd like to read it for yourself, then comment below! I have a paperback version to give away, and an audio version to give away!

Enter to win and I will mail one of these off to you!

Winners will be chosen at random. Giveaway ends in one week on July 3rd!

Crazy Mom

I'm turning into a crazy mom. Seriously.....

We've been plowing threw potty training. Some days are worse than others. Monday was awesome, no accidents at all. I thought maybe it finally "clicked"

But then yesterday happened. Six "accidents" in all. Because he was too lazy, distracted, or bored? We were by a bathroom all day, not out in public. But he didn't want use the toilet at all. I'd ask him if he had to go, he said no. 5 minutes later I'd ask him again only to discover he had already peed his pants.

Why? I don't get it.

So I did something crazy.

I grounded him to the bathroom!

I'm really not quite sure what else to do. So he was grounded to the bathroom for a while (probably 30 minutes total) Of course while grounded in the bathroom he proceeded to poop in his underwear.

WTF why?

It's a control thing I guess, but I don't know what to do with it. I have promised him EVERYTHING under the sun. And he just goes in his pants. But then he has days where he has no accidents....

He's making me crazy! At this rate the baby will be potty trained first!

Jensen's 1st Birthday - Pirate Party

Last weekend we had Jensen's 1st birthday party. We are so lucky to be able to celebrate with all of our amazing friends and family.

I couldn't find any invites I liked, so I found some scrapbook paper cheap (.20 cents a sheet!) and bought a whole bunch. Knowing I would use it for other aspects of the party.

I ended up making a banner, thank you tags, and all the food name tags out of the same paper.

Here's the Banner, It's kinda hard to see. (don't mind the mess, I hung this up a week before the party)

Here's the Treasure Chests (favors).

I found the boxes and all the favors on Amazon. I forgot to take a picture of what is inside, but there were temporary pirate tattoos, eye patches, gem rings (for the jewels), pirate flags, kaleidoscopes, Pirate Booty and sticker sheets. I also ordered some gold coins for the treasure chests, and for the cupcakes

Now onto the food and food tags! (my pictures didn't turn out that great. Guess that's what happens when I throw a party at 10 am and scramble to get everything done in time and still try to get pictures of it!)

We had Pirate Jewels (fruit)

The cupcakes were the "Pirate Gold" I just made chocolate cupcakes with gold cream cheese frosting.

Jensen's smash cake (which he wanted NOTHING to do with!)

Dead Man's Fingers (little smokies)

Fish and Chips

Cannonballs (black olives)

Pirate Booty (of course!)

Walk The Plank Sandwich (a sub)

Here are the close ups of the name tags

Silly birthday boy wanted nothing to do with his cake, seriously didn't even touch it!

I also had an adorable shirt made for him. I didn't really get a good picture of it, but if you need to get a custom shirt made I definitely recommend Zoey's Attic! Seriously amazing!

I can't believe my baby is one already! We had an amazing time throwing him a party!
