Crazy Mom

I'm turning into a crazy mom. Seriously.....

We've been plowing threw potty training. Some days are worse than others. Monday was awesome, no accidents at all. I thought maybe it finally "clicked"

But then yesterday happened. Six "accidents" in all. Because he was too lazy, distracted, or bored? We were by a bathroom all day, not out in public. But he didn't want use the toilet at all. I'd ask him if he had to go, he said no. 5 minutes later I'd ask him again only to discover he had already peed his pants.

Why? I don't get it.

So I did something crazy.

I grounded him to the bathroom!

I'm really not quite sure what else to do. So he was grounded to the bathroom for a while (probably 30 minutes total) Of course while grounded in the bathroom he proceeded to poop in his underwear.

WTF why?

It's a control thing I guess, but I don't know what to do with it. I have promised him EVERYTHING under the sun. And he just goes in his pants. But then he has days where he has no accidents....

He's making me crazy! At this rate the baby will be potty trained first!

  1. OMG, I remember the potty-trainig-times... My daughter was no problem, my son just about drove me insane. The only thing I really learned was that they will do it when they are ready. It's as simple and as hard as that.
My son had a thing for pooping in the neighbor's flower beds, which I still preferred to scraping poop out of his pants :)

    1. I've heard boys are hard! And I didn't have nearly this hard of a time potty training my nephew! My son has pooped on the deck, but never the neighbors flower beds! LOL

  2. Ugh. Potty training seriously BLOWS. Have you tried a sticker chart? It's basically still promising things, but they can see the stickers add up and put one on each time. Mine loved it!

    1. Yeah, the stickers didn't work here. Since his older cousin is out of school and we get to see him almost everyday, I told my son if he could potty like his big boy cousin I would take him to a big boy movie in the theater. That worked for yesterday, we'll see how the next couple days go

  3. I second Greta that potty-training BLOWS! We used candy with the 1st, and #2 was having none of it. Thankfully she always poops in the potty, it's the pee that we have to deal with. Lately, she's regressed and stopped telling us when she needs to go. She just goes in her carseat that is now very clean since we've had to wash it every other day. Frustration can be the mother of invention though. Don't give up!

  4. Potty training sucks it! You're right, it's a control thing. Pretend it doesn't bother you, let him tell you he's had an accident (keeping an eye on him), and let him have that control. Hopefully soon, he'll figure out that life is easier when he goes on the potty. And give him candy. Or something he likes every time he goes in the potty. It seemed to work for mine. You two will figure it out.

Potty training is excellent birth control - like I NEVER want to go through that again!! :)

    1. Ha ha ha!!! Love it! Yesterday I told him he could go to a big boy movie at the theater if he had no accidents. And gave him ice cream last night for having no accidents all day.

  6. OH man, potty training. No one tells yo how sucky it is! Something will click at some point and he WILL do it. I had a stubborn one too, I know it's hard. Hang in there!! xo

    1. It's good to hear that I am not the only one with a stubborn one, and that someday it will just click!

  7. I HATE potty training as much as I hate raising puppies(for the very same reason.) When Nathaniel was "ready" I let him spend the day naked. I remember he was sitting on the couch and all of a sudden he started going. Well because he was naked the stream went straight up and ummm landed on his head! He stopped and we rushed to the bathroom...yeah that took care of it!
